The challenge

National Grid ESO has reliable plans in place should there be a total or partial blackout of the UK’s electricity transmission system. Until now it has relied predominantly on fossil fuels. In 2019 National Grid began an ambitious project to develop a multi-faceted alternative, using smaller and greener energy sources and Simplify created a film to explain the concept. Four years later we were tasked with communicating the project’s successes to the wider audience.

The solution

We produced an engaging video using archival video footage and animated graphics to clearly communicate the sucesses of the project and the benefits of the new approach to restarting the national electricity network. Our crafted script was expertly narrated by Peaky Bliners actor Gemma North.
